FAQ

Questions, answered

What is Perch?

Perch is a notch-style productivity app for Windows 10 and 11. A small pill at the top of your screen opens on hover into fourteen tools, including a Pomodoro timer, tasks with reminders, notes, media controls, clipboard history and screen time. Your personal productivity data is stored on your PC. Perch is a one-time purchase, with updates included.

How do I open Perch?

Hover over the pill at the top of your screen, use the tray menu, or press Ctrl+Alt+Space (the default shortcut, customizable in Settings). Inside Perch, Ctrl+K opens the command palette to find tools, start timers and add tasks.

Does Perch work offline?

Your tasks, notes and productivity tools run locally. Weather, GitHub activity, saved-link previews and updates need an internet connection. Licence activation also needs internet; after successful validation, Perch supports up to 14 days offline before another licence check is needed.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once ($5.99, or $2.99 for the first 100 buyers) and keep Perch forever, including updates.

Which Windows versions are supported?

Windows 10 (22H2) or Windows 11, 64-bit.

How many PCs can I use it on?

Up to 3. You can move your licence to a new PC from Perch's settings at any time.

Does Perch collect my data?

No. Tasks, notes, clipboard history and screen time stay on your PC. Perch only goes online to check your licence, check for updates, fetch weather for the city you choose, look up the title and icon of a link you save, and load your GitHub activity if you connect it.

Can I send files between my phone and PC?

Yes. Open the Shelf, click Phone and scan the QR code with your phone's camera. Send photos and files to the PC or download anything on the shelf, both over your own Wi-Fi. No app to install, and nothing goes through the internet.

Can Perch remind me about things?

Yes. Add a task with a time, like “pay rent friday 10am” or “standup every weekday 9:30”, and Perch shows it in the pill when it's due, with an optional Windows notification. It can also nudge you to rest your eyes, stretch and drink water.

Will it get in the way of my apps or games?

No. The closed pill is small, and everything around it lets clicks through. Perch hides itself when a game, video or presentation goes fullscreen.

What if I don't like it?

Email us within 14 days for a full refund. No questions asked.

Why might Windows show a SmartScreen warning?

Windows may warn when an installer is unsigned or has limited download reputation. A warning is not a safety guarantee either way. Download Perch through this site's Download page, verify that you intended to install it, and contact support if you are unsure.
